A Tribute to Hayden Kennedy

Saturday, November 4
4:00 pm
Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS)
500 Holden Way, Carbondale, CO 81623

As a reminder Saturday, November 4, please join us as we gather as a community to celebrate the life of Hayden Kennedy (February 12, 1990 – October 7, 2017) in his home town of Carbondale, Colorado.

We welcome all who knew Hayden, who were touched and moved by him in some way, to come together to mourn, laugh, cry and howl at the moon as we say goodbye. If you knew Hayden, you knew his compassion and his humble power to bring people together. The Kennedy family now honors his spirit in a moving memorial so that we may all begin to heal from this loss.

The memorial will be held outdoors at CRMS (where Hayden went to high school) starting at 4pm. Please remember to bring appropriate clothing as it may rain or snow, and sundown is just after 6pm. Pack your puffy jacket, shell, hat, gloves and headlamp. We will have seating, but a few extra camp chairs wouldn’t hurt.

Please bring a candle and lighter as well.

Parking will be limited, and we encourage you to ride, walk and carpool out to CRMS. We will also run shuttles from public parking in Carbondale. For further details or any questions, please contact Lisa Dawson at ldawson120@gmail.com or 970-456-7570, and she will direct your query to the appropriate volunteer.

For those who are unable to attend, we will post a video of the tribute and memorial on YouTube approximately 90 minutes after the conclusion of the ceremony.

Hayden and his love, Inge Perkins, touched many lives. If you are unable to be with us in Carbondale, we ask that you to gather with friends on Saturday, or simply spend time outdoors with their spirits. Light a candle. Hug someone fiercely. Bake bread and share it. Go climbing or skiing or running, or sit still with the wind.

Hayden loved exploring wild places. In Hayden’s memory, the Kennedy family along with the Access Fund, Black Diamond Equipment and Patagonia have established a fund to fight for the preservation of public lands, a cause Hayden cared for deeply. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to this important national cause. For more information visit www.haydenfund.org.
